About The Liberian Collective Org
Rooted in culture. Powered by community.
The Liberian Collective is a nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and elevating Liberian culture across the diaspora.
We curate experiences, storytelling, and community spaces where Liberian culture can thrive — through events, digital content, partnerships, and programming that highlight authenticity, excellence, and connection.
This is about visibility, pride, and creating spaces where Liberian culture feels vibrant, modern, and fully represented.
Shifting the Narrative
Liberia is more than headlines. More than stereotypes. More than assumptions.
We’re intentional about telling fuller stories — culture, creativity, entrepreneurship, history, joy, and community. Through content, collaborations, and cultural experiences, we amplify Liberian voices and highlight Liberian excellence wherever it exists.
Representation matters. And we’re committed to expanding it.
Experiences for the Culture
From festivals like 1847 Fest to community events, cultural programming, collaborations, and storytelling, we bring people together in ways that feel joyful, welcoming, and rooted in identity.
Our experiences create space for:
Cultural connection
Community building
Tourism inspiration
Storytelling and visibility
Celebration of Liberian excellence
They’re not just events — they’re cultural touchpoints.
Tap In. Support the Work.
You don’t have to “join” anything to be part of what we’re building.

Supporting Liberian businesses and creatives
Engaging with our cultural programming

What’s Next
1847 Fest
A flagship celebration of Liberian independence, culture, food, music, and community.
And there’s more coming.
Stay tapped in.
“Growing up in the US, I yearned to see the birthplace of my parents. I loved it far before my feet returned to its shores. Now, I hope to provide opportunities for people to see, learn, and fall in love with Liberia, too. We’ve opened new doors for cultural engagement and strive to be impactful contributors to carving out a space for Liberian representation where it did not exist before.”
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
In 2020, Kemah George-Hertzog was scrolling through social media like everyone else stuck inside during a global pandemic. While sifting a plethora of pages and blogs about traveling abroad, she noticed that all the trips had one thing in common.
None of them listed Liberia as a destination to explore.
She decided to create the change she wanted to see. Recognizing the critical gap, Kemah has since developed diverse partnerships in the US and in Liberia to curate experiences and events for Liberian culture, communities, and connections to thrive
